Description
Laminaria japonica size could reach 4 to 6 meters (up to 10 meters in optimal growth conditions). Its naturally growths along north Japanese coasts all the way to the Kamchatka peninsula.
Composition
Laminaria algae are very rich in polysaccharides, especially alginates type, which are well known
for their skin moisturizing and tensing properties. Brown algae also contain Fucoxanthin (pigment of the carotenoid family).
Properties
It has been demonstrated that Fucoxanthin can promote mechanisms involved in skin whitening by inhibiting tyrosinase activity (an enzyme implicated in melanin synthesis).
